Our hospital is vital to ur town. We should not be struggling with the winter beds crisis, we should not be struggling (and blaming) A&E staff fro the not reaching the 4 hour target, if you haven’t got beds, how on earth can anyone meet a target?
We have an airport just up the road … what happens if their was a major incident?
We should not be closing down or shuffling services around, we should be expanding, we need a new hospital!
The government closed all the mental hospitals and sold off land to developers making a small fortune?
Why wasn’t that money ploughed back into the NHS?
Why are hospital staff blamed if the structures they work from are too small to deliver services?
At a meeting i attended with a doctor from Southend, we were told that if you had a nose bleed and went to casualty at 7 p.m., wait four hours to be seen, find your nose needs cauterising, you would need to travel to Broomfield for he procedure. with no transport you can use the hospital transport …nose still bleeding arriving at Broomfield close to 10 / 11 p.m.
Your nose would be cauterised, but then having missed the last bus back … we asked how the patient would get home .. our answer … sit in A&E and wait for the early morning bus at 6.40 a.m.
How can this improve services?
We need quality services fro local folk provided locally.
It is sad that our local MP’s councillor’s claim to support the services staying locally but do nothing to ensure it doesn’t happen.
